The Catalan language, with all its variants, is spoken by ten million people in Europe. It is the official language in the country of Andorra and in several Autonomous Communities in Spain such as Catalonia (with its four provinces: Barcelona, Tarragona, Lleida, and Girona); Valencia (with its three provinces: Castelló de la Plana, Valencia, and Alacant); and the Balearic Islands (with its five islands: Majorca, Menorca, Eivissa, Formentera, and Cabrera). In addition, the Catalan language is spoken in some parts of the Autonomous Community of Aragon, in Spain, the Department of Pyrénées Orientales, in France, and the town of Alghero in Sardinia, Italy.
