The Secretary for International Cooperation of the Government of Catalonia signed several cooperation agreements with the UN in New York

The Secretary for International Cooperation of the Government of Catalonia signed two ambitious agreements worth more than a million dollars with different United Nations Agencies last December 5th in New York. The following day, a third cooperation agreement was signed which will make Barcelona the launching point of a world-wide campaign to promote the Millenium Development goals to regional autonomous governments such as Catalonia’s

The Secretary for International Cooperation of the Government of Catalonia, Albert Royo i Marine’ held an event to celebrate these important agreements with a toast. The event took place on 12.06.2005 at the Millennium UN Plaza Hotel New York, One United Nations Plaza.

A toast ceremony featured the following speakers: Albert Royo, Secretary for International Cooperation of the Government of Catalonia; Juan Antonio Yáñez-Barnuevo, Ambassador of Spain in the United Nations; Jean-Noel Wetterwald, Chief, Resource Mobilization Branch, United Nations Population Fund; Eveline Herfkens, Secretary-General's Executive Coordinator for the Millenium Development Goals Campaign at the UN; and Joan Salavedra, president of the Catalan Institute of America.
